What does Medipim do?
Medipim is a PIM (product information management) platform for the pharmacy market, active in nine countries, that makes product information digitally usable. We collect and process product data, create and process images, categorise products and make information accessible through the platform, the API and the many software packages that Medipim is integrated into. In Belgium, more than 4,000 pharmacies and healthcare professionals work with Medipim. The Belgian database holds more than 231,000 active products.
Which products does Medipim collect product information for?
Medipim collects product information for medicines and all other products sold or rented out by pharmacies. We keep a separate database for each country, with the products of that market. The information available varies by product.
Who is Medipim for?
Medipim supports pharmacies and healthcare professionals, software companies and webshops, manufacturers and brands, and wholesalers. A wholesaler can both use and supply product information.
How is Medipim different from a PIM like Akeneo, or from GS1?
Medipim combines both, and takes care of the data itself as well. A PIM such as Akeneo supplies the technology and GS1 supplies the standards, but both rely on manufacturers to enter and maintain their own data. Often that happens only in part, or not at all. Medipim has the technology and applies the standards, from GTIN to CNK. Above all, Medipim collects, checks, photographs and updates the data itself, across the whole pharmacy range: from tightly regulated medicines to cosmetics.
Is product information available through an API?
Yes. Connected applications can retrieve the latest product information available in Medipim in real time through the Medipim API. Technical documentation is available for each country.
